Bernie and Karen recently painted in the annual Kinston Plein Air Paint Out sponsored by the Kinston Arts Council. Our friend, Mike Rooney, was the judge. The caliber of paintings were SUPERB this year  A special thanks to the Kinston Arts Council for an awesome event (as usual) and the Mother Earth Brewery for their hospitality.

Up to three (3) pieces of work created during the Paint Out may be entered for the juried competition. There is no limit to the number of pieces that can be exhibited and for sale. All work will be exhibited and for sale on Friday evening, May 4th and 10:00am-4:00pm, Saturday, May 5th at the Art Gallery at Mother Earth Brewery on North Street in Kinston. The art will then be moved to the Arts Center, 400 N. Queen Street, Kinston to be on exhibit and sale through August 4, 2012. OOPS fare well at Kinston CCA's 3rd Annual Plein Air Paint Out

The Kinston Community Council for the Arts (Kinston CCA) is a non-profit organization that promotes art in Lenoir County. Kinston CCAs annual paint out is held each year as a part of the BBQ festival on the Neuse. This year the paint out was for three days in downtown Kinston, beginning April 28 through April 30th. Paintings were juried and then were for sale as the art gallery next to Mother Earth Brewery during the Festival on the Neuse. OOPS (Onslow Outdoor Painters Society) members present were Bernie Rosage Jr., Mitchell Morton, Karen Crenshaw, and Susan Cheatham. Our friends... Tesh Parekh, Art Tyndall, Ruth Cox, Mary Page Whitley, and Charles Philip Brooks were there and we met many new friends. 25 artists entered the competition... 1st place went to Ruth Cox, 2nd to Bernie Rosage Jr., and 3rd to Tesh Parekh. Bernie, Mitchell, and Karen sold several paintings during the first viewing. We can't wait till next year!

PLEIN AIR PAINT OUT
Downtown Kinston

Artists will paint scenes from downtown Kinston, including the river, beginning April 28 through April 30th. Paintings will be juried and then for sale as the art gallery next to Mother Earth Brewery during the Festival on the Neuse. They will be on sale at The Arts Center, 400 N. Queen Street, Kinston for the month following the festival.

Artists wishing to participate in the Plein Air Paint Out should contact Mary Page Whitley (marypagewhitley@aol.com) or Sandy Landis (slandis@kinstoncca.com).

The official Festival on the Neuse poster will be on sale throughout the month of April at The Arts Center. This poster features the first place painting from last year’s Plein Air Paint Out. Winner Juliet Barrus’ painting, Nature Center, will be featured. Posters are $20.
