WOW... what a GREAT day for Plein Air Painting! Clear and 70 degrees... hard to believe that it snowed only four days before.
Donna came up with one of the coolest ideas ever... plein air painting at a junk yard! She organized the whole event and we gathered at Odum's Garage and Junk Yard in the Queen's Creek area of Onslow County. Thanks Donna... you did good girl! Thanks to the Odum's too!
We had five new members join us for the paint out making it even more special. Here's a photo of those who attended the event... LtoR...Cheryl, Dean, Patsy, Donna, Courtney, Kathi, Brooks, Bernie, Olivia, Willow Faye, Kit, Mitchell, Penny, Stephen, K, and Pat. Click on image to enlarge.
Olivia painted a gourd that Penny gave her. She also took most of the photos for the blog... some are really creative... you'll see what I mean as you scroll down. Willow Faye is painting in the background.
Brooks is one of our new members... he couldn't pass up the old Ford truck with flames. Courtney, his girlfriend, cheered him on and enjoyed the afternoon relaxing and reading a good book. Olivia failed to get a shot of her and their friend Cheryl, also a new member, who opted for a setting farther back.
Another new member, Willow Faye, (her arm pictured here) joined in on the fun. She is an artist and gallery owner in Trenton, NC.
Another artist from Trenton and new member is K.
Is that Pat Boni???... I think it is... and she's working in acrylics instead of watercolors.
Pat's friend and new member Kit also joined us at the junk yard. Olivia was really into photographing people's arms.
A close up of Stephen painting a barn scene. Stephen has a show at the Council for the Arts in October with Connie Burke titled "Barns"... maybe we'll see this one there!
